Dora the Explorer Placements

You will need colouring pages (see colouring page section for you free print out pages), crayons, markers, stickers, glue, glitter etc. Get a piece of thin cardboard the size of the colouring page, glue on the colouring page. Then cover the cardboard with contact paper but before that don’t forget to write their names on it so they can take them home with them.

Dora Colouring Pages

Give each guest an activity booklet with colouring pages to do either at your party or to take home in a goody bad. Check out www.nickjr.com/home/shows/dora/printables

Bug Drop

In this game each child breaks a balloon with plastic bugs in them. NOTE: place bugs inside before blowing them up. This will be a hit!

Pin the Glove on Swiper/Tail on Boots

Like Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Get a picture of Swiper and enlarge it and glue it onto cardboard. Draw or print out gloves, place double side tape on them for the children to stick on while blindfolded. Blindfold the children one at a time and let them attempt to put the glove back on Swiper. Whoever is the closest wins a prize.

Boot the Monkey See, Boot the Monkey Do

This game is similar to one of the classic party games - "Simon says", only with a Dora the Explorer twist. Give the children kids commands to make animal sounds or move like animals. For example: Boots says, "Swing your trunk like an elephant." Boots says, "Run like a Cheetah." "Squeal like a monkey!" and so on. A variation of this is "Dora Dice" (pronounced dee-say) which is the word for "says" in Spanish. As in the classic game of Simon Says, the children take turns being "Dora" and direct the other guests have to pretend to do Dora-like activities, such as hopping like a frog, swimming across a lake, climbing a rope and jumping over crocodiles, etc.

Musical Boots

Print a picture of “Boots” and tape it onto the bottom of a chair (before the party starts). Play the theme music, when the music stops and they sit in the chairs, the one sitting on the “Boots” chair wins. This can be played over and over again giving each child a chance to win.

Dora Walk

Cut out the shape of Dora’s insignia and place a number on each. Attach them to the floor with tape. Play the music when the music starts the children walk around on the Insignias when the music stops, call out a number from the bowl. The child standing on that number wins the prize.

Picture-Card Exploration Treasure Hunt

If the kids love Dora, they'll definitely love exploring like her (and of course to find a treasure is an extra bonus). Before the party, make 8-12 clue cards on individual cards, and on each one draw or glue on a picture of something in your house or yard. Write the clue number in the top left corner of each card and hide the clues before the kids arrive, making sure the treasure is well hidden. When it's time to play, gather all the children around and hand out the first clue, telling them to find the object on the card (for example, if the first card shows a slide, then the kids will go there and find a second clue card with a flower on it. Then, they'll go to the flower and find a third clue card with another object on it, etc.). The hunt continues until the children find all of Dora the Explorer theme-related treasures that you've hidden (if you prefer to make the cake as the treasure, put a picture of yourself on the last clue card. When the children come running back to you, they'll be ecstatic to see the treats that are waiting for them!! (For older children, write the name of each object in Spanish next to its picture for more fun). It can also be fun for the children if every clue or every other clue they find a special favor like stickers or other small, theme-related favors.

Balloon Race

Divide the children into two teams of equal number. Then form two lines, which stand side by side. The balloon is given to the first child in each team, who passes it backwards over his/her head to the next child. The balloon continues to be passed backwards along the line to the last remaining child, who runs to the front of the line and then passes the balloon through his/her feet to the child behind. This continues until the teams are back to the order in which they started the game. The first team to reach it's original position wins.

What's in the Mochilla (Backpack)?

Inside a backpack, place a few more objects than there are kids (use items with interesting shapes and textures that can also be prizes, like bubbles, yo-yo's, a ball, bracelets, crayons and small plastic animals). Sit all the kids in a circle and pass the backpack around one child at a time. The child then feels for an object inside the backpack, and need to guess what it is without looking (they get to keep their object as a prize). A variation of this game is to place one object inside the backpack and the child has to guess what's inside based on hints given.

Dora Songs

Children love to sing and there is no better songs to sing at a Dora Party then Dora Songs. Here are a few songs to incorporate at the party:

BACKPACK SONG:
Backpack (4 times)
I'm the Backpack
Loaded up with things and nick nacs too
Anything that you might need I got inside for you.
Backpack (4 times)
YEAH!

Piñata Party

A Piñata is made of papier-mâché to form the shape of popular and traditional characters depending on your party's theme and is then filled with sweets and small toys. (To be played under adult supervision)
The idea is that an adult hangs the piñata by a rope from a tree branch, clothes line and each player takes it in turns while blindfolded to hit the piñata with a stick until it breaks open. As soon as it is broken all the goodies fall out for everyone to share. To avoid young children being disappointed, it would be a good idea to put small goody bags inside with each child's name on it.
